The International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers (IBEW), Local 1179 is based in Portsmouth, Ohio. The Bylaws of System Council No. 25 govern IBEW 1179, of which it is a part, having jurisdiction over all electrical work on the Norfolk and Western Railway and the Ann Arbor Railway.
